Materials:		Vulcanite (an early thermoplastic derived from rubber)

Condition:		Very Good.

Description:		An especially heavy 19th century vulcanite chain with it's original hook clasp. Vulcanite was produced from the mid to late 1800s, and was meant to simulate Whitby jet. Over many years the material fades from a glossy black to a dusty warm color. This chain has turned a beautiful warm black with some links becoming chocolatey in color.
