Description: A flawless Georgian era mourning ring with an inscription that dates it to 1774. The miniature features a sepia painting of an urn on ivory, surrounded by laurels made from tiny pieces of hair. This type of mourning jewelry was popular in the late 18th century, but was rarely so well executed, and is rarely found so well preserved. The back is inscribed "John Baker A.E. Apr 1774, 63."
